This new body of work includes a series of oil paintings on tracing paper, two wall-mounted components (shelves holding bottles of handcrafted inks), and a series of laser engravings on polymethyl methacrylate.
The archive of an independent radio station is organized according to moods, flavors, and locations. Each playlist is assigned tags to guide the listener in selecting tracks.
Writing is approached materially, exploring the black of the letter and the preparation of inks made from organic matter collected in the surrounding rural areas. CK used this ancient medieval recipe to introduce students at a suburban middle school to chemical reactions.
The laser engravings bear witness to the abundance of woody necromass. Shortly after her passing, I discovered on CK’s laptop the photographs of dead trees she had taken in a city park near our home.
